Ever wonder how bridesmaid dress manufacturers coordinate their latest offerings so that they are in sync with each other? A quick check of three top bridesmaid dress manufacturers/distributors has led me to conclude that many bridal parties in 2010 will be wearing one of the following top colors:

1. Some variation of pink. Shades range from a soft, delicate petal pink to a pretty rose, to wildly hot fuchsia. No wonder this is a popular choice. Pink shades are feminine and flattering to most complexions.

2. Blues. I loved the various blues that I saw, royal blues, deep ocean blues. soft blues. Another very pretty, girly choice for a bridal party.

3. Purples. Rich and warm looking, the shades I saw seemed very flattering and would coordinate with a wide range of flowers (always an important consideration!)

4. Silver. I wouldn't have guessed this one, but I really liked the look of it. This is a color that may be a very good choice for a sophisticated bridal party, for a very formal evening wedding, perhaps.

5. Black. This is a choice that is gaining in popularity over the years. Once thought of as inappropriate for a bridal party as it was just too gloomy-looking, black is being seen on more and more bridal parties.
Does it have something to do with the wearability factor? Bridesmaids might actually wear these dresses again. Black certainly does look sophisticated and slenderizing, so if you can get past the gloom factor, you may wish to consider it for your bridal party.
The real news for bridesmaids dresses  is that short dresses are definitely in. This is a departure from the standard long gown that has traditionally been worn by bridal parties. The dresses I saw were mostly sweet and pretty.
